The Rutgers Center for Green Building has developed capabilities in applied green building research that entail public policy evaluation research, clean energy assessments, post occupancy evaluation of buildings and building occupants, including the development and deployment of sensor networks, life cycle costing and environmental life cycle analyses, agent-based modeling and machine learning approaches to predicting/depicting human behavior in buildings and other settings integrating AI algorithms and sensored air quality, energy and water data. RCGB furthermore has produced a series of reports documenting best design and operational practices in green and resilient buildings and is regularly called upon for green building policy recommendations. Much of RCGB’s research employs community-based participatory research methods. The Center regularly facilitates educational programs, learning networks and various building industry collaboratives.
