Hometown Dashboard is a proposed set of smart city technologies for improving Quality of Life (QoL) in small towns and cities, which often cannot afford custom apps and in-house smart-community capabilities. This platform – the Hometown Dashboard – establishes 3-way communication from government to citizens, citizens to government and citizens to citizens, and will incorporate information on current conditions, such as air quality, noise, weather, crowdedness, police activity, and traffic.  The platform will be available for iOS, Android and as a website and will have dynamic components such as feed from existing social networks, and development policies announcements. Hometown Dashboard is an action cluster under the NIST Global City Team Challenge — a partnership of the Rutgers Center for Green Building,  the Rutgers Computer Science Department and the Borough of Highland Park, NJ.
