Maren (Haus) Clayton

Maren

Maren (Haus) Clayton, MEM, is a Research Project Manager for the Rutgers Center for Green Building. Maren holds a Master of Environmental Management (MEM) degree from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies (FES) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Wake Forest University. As a graduate student, her work focused on urban ecology and environmental design. Her master’s project researched methodologies to test the impacts of green design on the health and performance of students, teachers, and staff of Sidwell Friends Middle School in Washington, D.C. Before working at the Rutgers Center for Green Building, she served as the Program Director for the Yale University Office of Sustainability’s Undergraduate Sustainability Education Program. At Rutgers, she has worked on various projects including green building post-occupancy evaluations and community sustainability plans and served as the Research Project Manager for the New Jersey Green Home Remodeling Guidelines Version 1.0, and as a contributing researcher on policy recommendations for the New Jersey Green Building Guidelines Manual. She is currently managing the update of the New Jersey Green Building Guidelines Manual focusing on strategies that advance green, resilient, smart, and healthy buildings.
